Hotel Rappen Rothenburg

Hotel Rappen Rothenburg

For over 400 years the Rappen has been located by the Gallow's Tower (Galgenturm) of Rothenburg ob der Tauber and is therefore a fixture in the history of the past imperial city.

The Rappen was first documented as tavern and inn in the year 1603, in which it offered travellrs, as well as their horses, comfortable lodgings and Imperial City hospitality. In 1706, when the Rappen became a postal station and the Rappen innkeeper was appointed Imperial Postal Keeper, this historical inn gained further importance in the history of Rothenburg. During the summer months, the Rappen Garden served as a meeting place for the "Imperial City Society." When Rothenburg lost its Imperial City status in the year 1802 and was incorporated into Bavaria, the newly founded militia held its yearly parade in front of the Rappen. Due to a bombing attack towards the end of World War II, the Rappen - as well as a large part of the historical city center of Rothenburg - suffered extensive damage. Today it is a modernly furnished hotel with imperial city flair, in which hospitality and satisfaction of the guests has been a historic legacy for over 4 centuries. Guest rooms feature modern amenities as well as The on-site restaurant, Pfannkuchen-Kuchel, prides itself on culinary versatility of a high standard, specializing in regional Franconian dishes as well as international specialities – with the best products and ingredients from their own butcher.
